Action on Climate Today (ACT), a DFID funded programme on building climate resilience, promotes climate resilient agriculture through a value chain approach.
This project in Assam deployed a multilateral analysis to selected crops that would be most climate resilient in the prioritized four agro-climatic zones. A detailed field study and analysis of one of the selected crops – Ginger- to map risks due to climate change, was conducted to arrive at strategies to improve the income of farming communities in the hilly agro-climatic zone in Karbi-Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of Assam was carried out. Based on this, resilience measures and strengthening opportunities were identified for the Ginger that are detailed in this report.
